War Testimony /
When the war started, we all understood that it had to start. But we did not believe until the last that the enemy would be such a cruel and soulless killer. My daughter and my husband were forced to leave [CITY] on the very first day because rockets were hitting our anti-aircraft defences, and we just grabbed everything we needed out of fear: documents, money, a kitty, a dog, some things and just ate. We understood that the war would come one day, so we always kept a full tank in the car. Yes, it saved us a lot of time because we saw hundreds of cars at gas stations on the approach to [CITY]. But in [CITY] itself, people still did not understand what was going on; we watched the news and learned from there that there was a war, and we experienced the horror of an airstrike a kilometre from us, and this is just an animal feeling. When we got to a safe place, I was sick from stress for a week. I shuddered at the sound of the wind, the door slamming, the phone ringing. And before that, the pharmacies ran out of all sedatives. It is scary. The whole nation is on antidepressants. I had a small amount of valerian, so it saved me. Unfortunately, the war dragged on, and now we fear it will not end soon. So we learn to live in a new way - in other cities and with new acquaintances. But no one will return the torn months of time and billions of nerve cells. My hatred for everything Russian is boundless because it is a cursed herd with no right to procreation. I am an atheist, and in my worldview, there will be nothing for earthly affairs. But there is conscience and dignity. Which over time shows who is who. During all the war months, I see a person's tears and powerlessness before the war because war is not inherent in people. We have a big brain to think and negotiate. So those who came to us through war do not have the privilege of thinking with their brains; their puppeteers decided for them. We are fighting for what is rightfully ours. Whoever does not agree with this will burn in noble hell because our home is Ukraine.
