War Testimony /

On February , ... near [CITY], Kherson region, the occupiers immediately began to hang their flag... already at noon. On the th, we saw the last sunset in free, unoccupied Ukraine. We are a small town of [CITY], Kherson region, in the south of Ukraine, very picturesque and beautiful. From the first day of the war, we were captured by the enemy. We are not Mariupol, which is constantly under fire, but life is in danger every day! And only we know what is happening in the city ... how they kidnap people and put them in basements, forcing them to recognize the new government in various ways; how boys are grabbed to dig trenches under the muzzles of machine guns, how they drive the owners out of their houses to disperse their soldiers; how cars are targeted; how dangerous it is to move through the streets, constantly bumping into racist patrols (and it depends only on their mood, whether you will go further, or end up behind bars, or even worse - you will be shot); how every day you see all the incoming military equipment and military units of the enemies; how do you try to hide where you are looking to see the direction where you need to go... The city where the mobile connection is constantly disappearing! And the Internet is already a joy! Television is only from Russian channels, which only takes a few seconds to watch because you are filled with rage! Complete information blockade! You return home along the usual path through the park and observe ahead of you zetka and Russian soldiers, who are standing on the perimeter around the neighbouring house. You freeze in the city. "So you don't have guests?" - you hear from a friend who is passing by. And sometimes you go around the neighbouring house on the tenth road with the thoughts, "What's going on there? And should we expect guests too?" Then you watch how people from this house smoke cigarette after cigarette and listen to their story about the "mask show." And after that, you take a sip of coffee ... and listen to the midday silence around you and hear only your accelerated heartbeat ... But we lived in a city where there is a catastrophic lack of medicine, not a single car with humanitarian aid passed by us, and food at such prices that it makes your head dizzy, but there is, most of it already from Crimea. Fuel is also from Crimea; there are no alternatives. But there are many other things that I want to shout about!!! So you look around as if everything is normal, only that it is like in the s... Those who have not been to the occupied cities will never fully understand this. One day in the occupation sometimes seems like a year. Because every day is nerve cells, extra gray hair and an accelerated heartbeat. Sometimes silence envelops everything around you; sometimes you shudder from explosions... But one day, the time will come, and I will talk about my feelings about the occupation...someday after our victory, somewhere on the seashore, maybe at my favourite [DISTRICT] over a glass of white dry... We have been following the situation for a very long time. We followed when there was the first road from [CITY] to [CITY], then when there was a second road through [CITY], then when there was a second road a little further northeast through the [DISTRICT] district, closer to [CITY]. But as far as we have seen, the situations there were very dangerous. And we constantly heard that there are no guarantees of safety. We learn that someone blew up, then we learn that someone came under artillery fire, then we learn that someone was shot. We decided to go... My husband, I and two children (a girl aged and ). A difficult road, with about roadblocks, checks every kilometre, the nervous system is under tension, and the feelings are simply repulsive. When we finally reached the controlled territory of Ukraine, an incredible feeling of joy enveloped us. I couldn't believe that something like this could happen to us... One even breathes differently here; everything is different here. And it seems that you are in free territory, more or less safe, but your soul remains at home. In the meantime... let's hold on and believe! We will win! Let's live! [CITY] is UKRAINE!!
