War Testimony /
My family are immigrants from the Luhansk region. I was at home with my daughter on that terrible morning when the war started. I had an outgoing one. Suddenly, very early, I got a call from Kyiv. "Are you still sleeping? There's a war on the street." At first, I didn't even understand what they were saying. I say: "What kind of war? Don't talk nonsense"! And here it began. I turn on the news, and there is horror. I go out on the balcony, and people are all panicking. They bought everything in sight. The school immediately called. They said that there would be no lessons. Life seems to have stopped for a moment. I stand and cannot understand what to do next or where to run. I calmed myself, and it began... I quickly ran to collect documents and some things. Then I packed a backpack with food to run to the basement. My child screams and cries. My husband came running and said: "Quick, we have to run and hide"!!! We went down. Terrible. And after a few minutes, we heard how the shelling started. It is scary. Panic began. I started shouting that I should drop everything and leave the city. We spent three days in the basement without sleep. We just got home when everything thunders again. Within minutes, we decided to run away from what was happening. We called the volunteers, and we were already in the car in a matter of minutes. We first left for the village. There was no electricity, water, or gas. It was terrifying. My daughter kept asking what was going on. She shouted that she wanted to go home. We did not understand what to do next. But when it became restless there, they decided to go further. Having left all our lives at home, we were going nowhere. We had neither a plan for what to do next nor funds. We wandered as a family from city to city, and that's how we ended up in [CITY]. Here we were reassured, told that it was safe because of the pilgrims. We decided to stay here for now. Thanks to good people, we gradually started to come to our senses. But now our life is ruined. We can't sleep normally and constantly have nightmares. We fear even elementary thunder. The only thing we understand is that we did everything right. We were saving our daughter.
