War Testimony /

I live in the western part of Ukraine, so the first weeks of the war were the most traumatic for me when it was not clear how far the invaders would go, whether they would attack from Belarus and hit [CITY] with rockets. I remember very well the first day there was news that the war had started, and I didn't know whether to go to work or what to do. A little later, I heard loud sounds as if the door on the balcony vibrated several times - then I saw an explosion in the window and a cloud of smoke from afar (it was an impact on the airfield), which shocked and scared me, I saw this for the first time. I could not believe that it was really happening. At first, it seemed that this was absolute madness. It is not real. There cannot be a war in the middle of Europe in the st century. I thought that the whole civilized world would unite and it would end quickly. The first days, I just constantly watched the news, and we went to the shelter during the alarms. The second shocking episode happened about two weeks later. In the middle of the night, my parents woke me up and told me to go to the shelter immediately because something had exploded, although there was no alarm at the time. I saw an orange light in the window as if something was burning behind the neighbouring house. It was even scarier than the first day because this explosion was closer and in the middle of the night. I can't remember how long we spent in the shelter. When I went to the shelter, I often thought, if this were the last time I would see our apartment and all my things, what would happen to my boyfriend now when this would be over? A few months later, I felt very disappointed by the news. We were constantly promised something, but the world leaders only chatted, and some seemed to mock us, handing us old helmets or some kind of uniform to help us. It was hard to believe that most of the world just didn't care. I began to watch the news less and less because I noticed that it negatively affected my well-being and did not change anything. It was harrowing for me to look at other people's internships and realize that I could not have any influence. I was angry at this helplessness and injustice. There was and is an intense hatred of Russians. Now it is scary that my boyfriend can be mobilized and killed because he is the closest to me, and then my future is very uncertain because it is difficult for me to build relationships. Unfortunately, other defenders are killed, and people die all the time. I feel guilty that I am not in the front areas, but I still worry often, and the future scares me. Now the consequences for me are relatively economical because prices are constantly rising. I understand that it is unlikely that anything will fly to [CITY], and Belarus is also unlikely to attack. I am waiting for good news, and sometimes the mood rises, as after the announcements of the transfer of equipment, and sometimes it falls when it turns out that they will move the old one or they have changed their minds. Now the only thing I want is our victory. And with the beginning of the war, all the previous problems seemed to be worthless; the war forced us to review values and start looking at issues differently. I don't know if my contribution is helpful, but I hope so. Thank you for your attention.
