The war caught us by surprise in the village of [CITY] district, Kyiv region, about km from Kyiv. At home, I woke up from explosions around a.m. The glass in the windows rang as if it was about to crack. It was terrifying. A state of emergency was introduced, followed by martial law and a curfew. Periodically, military flying objects could be heard and seen nearby. We spent most of the day watching the news the first two days and could not do anything. On the second day, the tanks were already km away from us. Periodically, explosions and shaking of windows were heard, which also woke us up at night. Several regional bridges, including the one connecting the highway with Kyiv, were quickly blown up. In more or less large cities of the [CITY] district, electricity was partially lost, there was destruction, and there were also reports of partial occupation. They also confirmed the city's occupation north of us in the [CITY] district. We tried to keep the ordinary sense. The news said that Friday (February , ) would be the most challenging day, and we hoped that was true. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Three days later, due to sabotage by the occupying forces, we lost electricity, water, internet and communication. It became almost impossible to follow the news, including air alarms and contact relatives. Often we had to make decisions about hiding in the shelter and analyzing the sounds of explosions around us. In this case, when the surrounding calmed down a little, we measured twenty minutes and waited to see if there would be new loud explosions. Our shelter did not meet shelter safety regulations. At night, the mobile connection stopped working entirely at a certain point. One morning plumes of smoke from the explosions could be seen in three different directions. Due to the columns of Russian soldiers walking past us, we once spent and a half hours in a row in a cold basement. We are forced to try to leave somehow. We left early in the morning. We returned home as soon as the village was de-occupied and the electricity began to be repaired, more than a month after we left. All around were shot cars, damaged buildings, and traces of battles. During our absence, Russian soldiers broke into our house, broke the gates, damaged the doors, broke the windows, damaged the furniture, broke the wall with an axe, and stole many things that belonged to our family. There are regular alarms in our city, but everything is calm. This fear will stay with me forever. But I am proud that I am Ukrainian and staying on my land. "

Війна застала нас зненацька у селі [МІСТО] району Київської області близько км від Києва. Вдома прокинулися від вибухів близько години ранку. Скло у вікнах дзвеніло так, наче от-от трісне. Було дуже страшно. Було введено надзвичайний стан, а далі воєнний стан, і комендантську годину. Періодично поблизу було чутно і видно військові літаючі об'єкти. Перші два дні ми майже весь день слідкували за новинами і не могли нічого робити. На другий день танки були вже в км від нас. Підтвердили також окупацію міста на півночі від нас у [МІСТО] районі. Ми намагалися зберігати здоровий глузд. У новинах було сказано, що п’ятниця ( лютого року) буде найважчим днем, і ми сподівалися, що це правда. На жаль, сталося зовсім не так. Через три дні через диверсію окупаційних військових у нас зникло світло, вода, інтернет і звʼязок. Слідкувати за новинами, у тому числі за повітряними тривогами, як і зв’язуватися з родичами ставало майже неможливо. Часто нам доводилося приймати рішення щодо переховування в укритті, аналізуючи звуки вибухів навколо. У такому разі, коли навколо трохи стихало, ми відміряли хвилин двадцять і чекали, чи будуть нові гучні вибухи. Наше укриття не відповідало правилам безпеки укриттів. Ночами мобільний зв’язок з певного моменту перестав працювати зовсім. Одного ранку стовпи диму від вибухів було видно у трьох різних напрямках. Через колони російських солдатів, що йшли повз нас, одного разу ми провели у холодному підвалі з половиною годин поспіль Ми змушені бути спробувати якось виїхати. Ми виїжджали рано вранці. Ми повернулися додому, як тільки село деокупували i почали ремонтувати електроенергію, тобто більше ніж, через місяць з моменту, як ми поїхали. Навколо були розстріляні машини, пошкоджені будівлі, сліди боїв. За час нашої відсутності у наш будинок проникли російські військові, які зламали ворота, пошкодили двері, розбили склопакети, пошкодили меблі, проломили сокирою стіну, викрали багато речей, що належали нашій сім’ї. У нашому місті регулярні тривоги, але все спокійно. Цей страх залишиться зі мною назавжди. Але я горджуся тим, що я Українка і я залишаюся на своїй землі.
