War Testimony /
Until the last, I could not believe that a full-scale war had begun. On that terrible morning of February , I woke up and began to prepare for teaching practice, but the day before, I felt that something bad was going to happen; I was extremely anxious. On the morning of February , my father called me and said: "My daughter, the war has started." I didn't even have time to answer him when suddenly I saw the light of a fighter jet, which seemed to be flying right at my window. What I saw left me speechless for several minutes. I hopelessly told my dad that everything would be fine, and that was the end of our conversation. We called each other every hour, worried about each other. Watching the news feed, it got more and more scary. Aviation was flying in the sky; at any sound, we started to hide behind the wall. I stayed at home; any business was postponed for later. My husband and I started packing a bug-out bag. The evening came... Suddenly, very quietly, the air alarm signal began to sound. In a panic, we quickly took our things and went to the bomb shelter; while running, we heard explosions somewhere near the city. It was terrifying. After entering the shelter, it seemed safe, but panic began and thoughts that my hometown was about to be bombed. Days passed, anxiety did not stop "screaming," and we ran more and more often to the storage room. Tired of insomnia, we continued to go to the shelter and were afraid to fall asleep at home so as not to wake up by the air alarm. After a couple of days, they started drinking a sedative, but even that could not help. After two weeks, we were already wholly weakened and did not understand what was happening; we continued to read the news and cry at the sight of human grief. However, we started volunteering, helping to weave camouflage nets, it was scary, and suddenly an air raid would begin. But over time, we began to get used to the sounds of the air alarm and began to stay at home more and more often. Every morning, day and night, we continued to fear for our lives but exhausted by the war and the news, we could no longer go to the shelter. Later, everything became a habit; we began to get used to everything. Now every day, we risk our lives, and we understand very well that there is danger. But we always hope for the best. We believe in the armed forces of Ukraine.
