War Testimony /
It was very hard to believe that the war had started. On the morning of February , we woke up to the explosion of rockets. Never before in my life have I heard or felt what it's like when a rocket flies into your city. It is terrifying, the panic is very strong, and there is no understanding of what is happening. It was the worst day of the war. Because they've never encountered such a thing before. In the first weeks, it was impossible to tear oneself away from the news. Everything happened so quickly. I was constantly in touch with the cities in which the enemy army entered or tried to enter. Worrying about friends and relatives in different parts of the country was incredible. In the city where I am, most of the arrivals were at night. Therefore, it was impossible to sleep. They sat and counted how many explosions there were. It is also challenging to get up in the morning. It takes a lot of effort to force yourself to start a new day. This never happened before the war. It is not laziness when you want to sleep more. No. Feeling as if something weighty has covered you and you cannot get up. Then I got used to living like this, although it is still challenging to get up in the morning. The next scariest moment was when they started bombing the ZNPP. We saw it happen live. Terrible. And the main thing - you don't understand why the Russians don't even have a little understanding that such actions will kill everyone, including them. Then I thought that they were terrible. Then there was [CITY]. Then came a feeling of horror and hopelessness. Apparently, everyone in my country is still horrified and with tears in their eyes. It was impossible to sleep, eat, or do anything normal when we received terrible news. That's when I felt helpless. If I could, I would most likely go there. To help. When you see what is being done and can't help, it's terrible, and you feel guilty. That you are not there with everyone. I think that was the first time in my life that I felt hatred for the whole country. Now there are no such fears. It's scary to find yourself alive under the rubble. It's scary to get injured. Terrible for loved ones. And dying is not scary anymore. If the rocket kills immediately, it's not scary. It's scary that someone will get sick, and I won't have medicine or money to do something about it. It is not scary to be left without electricity, water and heating. It is terrifying to become part of Russia.
