War Testimony /
At the beginning of the war, I was at home in Kyiv, and I returned to the boys for a certain time because of my studies. On the first day, my father woke me up with the words that the war had begun. I probably didn't feel anything at that time. Thoughts ran one after the other, and there was no certain understanding of what to do, nor how to do it. My mother was panicking and out of control, so I decided to take it step by step. In a few hours, we collected bug-out bags for each family member. They got the documents, prepared the dog, and stocked up on food and water. I had no idea if I should go. But my father was very insistent that my mother and I leave. I, in turn, could not leave him or the boy. We spent the first four nights in a bomb shelter due to the shelling of Kyiv. It was not the most pleasant experience for me, although I met many people. The cold, almost sleepless nights, explosions and people's panic, which periodically spread to me as well, made me feel hopeless and completely desolated. Therefore, on the fourth day, I decided that I had enough bomb shelters, and my parents and I returned to the apartment and began to simply follow the safety rules. After a week of sitting at home and taking short walks with the dog, I started losing my mind from hopelessness and unemployment. So I decided to start volunteering. I wrote to several acquaintances, and one of them suggested that I join him and package humanitarian aid. So, every day I went to help, and then I started collecting requests on the Internet from people who needed help and sending the necessary ones by mail. At the beginning of April, I got a call from an acquaintance who owns a coffee shop near my house (he was forced to leave with his family) and suggested that I try to work there. He sent me the keys, and with joint efforts, I started to work little by little. It was such a joy for me to see smiling people and children who could order drinks and go back for a moment to a past stable life. I worked there until other workers returned to Kyiv at the beginning of the summer. Then, having a not-very-stable situation, I got a new job in my specialty. The events that happened on . derailed a little. Unfortunately, they were reflected in me as a manifestation of anxiety and the inability to concentrate at all, a constant feeling of fatigue and apathy. But little by little, I am trying to recover myself and return to a normal life.
