Honestly, I did not perceive the insurers' appeal as an accurate sign that the war would start. But my brain understood, which means that there is already given intelligence that caused such actions. The representatives of our airlines, with which we were supposed to return to Kyiv, wrote us a letter the day before departure that they were flying according to the schedule and were closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine. And I exhaled a little. We flew to Kyiv, which seemed to have quieted down. It was the physical feeling of the calm before the storm. Some kind of imitation of the continuation of everyday life with black jokes about the "daily invasion," which was predicted hourly by various mainstream media of the world and individual officials and journalists. But such forecasts did not impress Ukrainians who went through the Revolution of Dignity and continued to fight in Donbas. Probably part of our mentality is natural softness, but up to a certain point. We always think better of our neighbours than they really are. It was hard to believe that surrealism in the minds of a group of people in Russia, who were trying to rewrite the th century, would reach such proportions. And human life and the rules of warfare, which have been in effect throughout previous history, will turn to dust. I slept through the first explosions. The irony of fate is to wake up to the news that a full-scale war has begun. These two words were not filled with anything then. Instead, everything inside was frozen, as if on an old computer. I went to a coffee shop near my house to find out what other people were saying and what they would do. The emotions of the visitors and the owners differed: disturbing humour, plans to take the family out, some chaotic forecasts and complete confidence that in a few days, we would return the "uninvited guests" back. The women's nervous laughter and restless eyes were the first beacons for me that something had really happened. And in the following days, I spent the night with friends in the neighbouring district of Kyiv, every night and morning under sirens and explosions, and prayers every evening for all my relatives. We even have such a phrase: "Every present "how are you?" means I love you." I monitored my behaviour - it was clear that I was not a panicky person, but my body recorded all the sounds as if on a flash drive, and on the first day, tremors passed through it. Die like this? From a rocket hitting the house? How is it? What is it about? I thought a lot about how I perceive death in general, and day by day; I learned to accept any development, not stop contact with colleagues and friends and pray every night. From the fourth day, the first adaptation was felt. The ear began to distinguish shades of sounds, not to react so sharply to sirens, understanding how they work, and even my dog began to distinguish when our guys from the Armed Forces of Ukraine deflected missiles with air defence systems. The sound of war became the only music. And the further the events developed, the fear disappeared - just as it disappeared in on the Maidan in Kyiv, when going under bullets to Hrushevskyi Street with a camera did not cause any particular emotions. The only difference is that we saw evil in front of us in one static place, and now you don't know what is flying every minute and where how this night will end. This is a problematic condition, especially for the psyche. But I would like to focus more on the internal sources of the war than on external events. In simple words: why is the war going on inside us? And there is someone to analyze external events. However, a certain distance is needed to rise a little above the situation. Якась імітація продовження звичайного життя із чорними жартами про «щоденне вторгнення», яке прогнозували погодинно різні мейнстрімні медіа світу й окремі чиновники та журналісти. Та українців, які пройшли Революцію Гідності та продовжували воювати на Донбасі, не вражали такі прогнози. Напевно, частиною нашого менталітету є природна м'якість, але до певного моменту. Ми завжди думаємо краще про наших сусідів, аніж вони є насправді. Важко було допустити, що сюрреалізм у головах групки людей в Росії, які намагаються переписати ХХ століття, досягне таких масштабів. І людське життя та правила ведення війни, які діяли всю попередню історію, перетворяться на пил. Перші вибухи я проспала. Іронія долі — прокинутися від новин, що почалася повномасштабна війна. Ці два слова не були тоді наповнені нічим. Радше все всередині зависло, ніби на старенькому комп'ютері. Я вийшла до кав'ярні недалеко від мого дому, щоби зрозуміти, що взагалі говорять інші люди і що збираються робити. Емоції у відвідувачів і власників були різні: тривожний гумор, плани вивезення родини, якісь хаотичні прогнози та цілковита впевненість, що за кілька днів ми повернемо «непроханих гостей» назад. Нервовий сміх та неспокійні очі жінок — це був перший маячок для мене, що щось таки справді відбулося. А наступні дні вже були ночівлі у друзів в сусідньому районі Києва, кожна ніч і ранок під сирени тта вибухи, молитви щовечора за всіх рідних мені людей. У нас навіть з'явилась така фраза: «Кожне теперішнє "як ти?" означає, що я люблю тебе». Я відслідковувала свою поведінку – було ясно, що я не панікерка, але тіло записувало, як на флешку, усі звуки, а в перші дні по ньому проходив тремор. Померти отак? Від попадання ракети в будинок? Як це? Про що це? Я багато думала про те, як я взагалі сприймаю смерть, і день за днем вчилася приймати будь-який розвиток подій, не перестаючи контактувати з колегами і друзями та молитись щовечора. З четвертого дня відчулася перша адаптація. Вухо почало розрізняти відтінків звуків, не реагувати так гостро на сирени, розуміючи, як вони працюють, і навіть мій собака став розрізняти, коли наші хлопці з ЗСУ відбивали ракети системами ППО. Звучання війни стало єдиною музикою. І чим далі розвивалися події, страх зникав – так само, як він зникав у на Майдані в Києві, коли йти під кулі на вулицю Грушевського з фотоапаратом не викликало якихось особливих емоцій. От тільки різниця в тому, що тоді ми бачили зло перед собою в одному статичному місці, а тепер ти щохвилини не знаєш, що і звідки летить, чим завершиться ця ніч. Це важкий стан, особливо для психіки. Та я би хотіла зосередитися більше на внутрішніх джерелах війни, аніж на зовнішніх подіях. Простими словами: чому війна відбувається всередині нас? А зовнішні події є кому аналізувати.
