Next, I drank coffee, always as a ritual and calming. After that, I woke up my daughter and informed her about it. It was so unclear, everything seemed to be in a fog, but even in this state, I thought of going to fill up the car, withdraw money and stock up. To my great surprise, already at in the morning of the same day, there were long queues and commotion. My husband did not believe it, one might say, and just slept. In the following days, we were already petrified because we could clearly hear explosions, etc. And despite this, we still believed it would all be over in a few weeks. And every day, this faith faded; it is terrifying and painful - to finally understand that this is not a temporary trouble but a serious, cruel, terrible, deadly war. In order to fully accept new realities, I "dropped out" of life for a while, and it was challenging to return. The only thing that made it possible to stay "afloat" was the understanding that all relatives and friends were alive. Until that terrible day happened when the earth seemed to shake from the force of the explosion, which took place a kilometre from our house. And as a result of this, my co-worker and her entire family, including children, died... Death and war have never been so close to me. I felt that pain; I felt just creepy, and I even realized that this pain is only % of the disaster that others are going through. Losing home, relatives, friends, life... It's so terrible that I wouldn't wish anyone to go through this in my life. Now we have gotten used to it a little and are trying to continue living. Аж поки не стався той страшний день, коли земля ніби здригнулася від сили вибуху, який відбувся в кілометрі від нашого дому. І в результаті якого загинула моя співробітниця і вся її сім’я, включаючи дітей… Ще так близько смерть та війна не були зі мною. Я відчула той біль, мені стало просто моторошно, і навіть розуміючи, що цей біль тілько % того лиха, яке інші переживають. Втрачаючи дім, рідних, друзів, життя… Це настільки жахливо, що я б нікому в житті не побажала це пережити. Зараз вже ми трішки звикли і намагаємося продовжувати жити. A single woman of a rather respectable age always came to the aid of anyone who needed it when necessary. Therefore, no one was surprised that [NAME1] accepted a young woman - a migrant from the Donetsk region - to live with her. When the head of the village informed the population at a public meeting that they would bring immigrants to the village and that it was planned to build old huts for temporary living, [NAME1] offered her help without hesitation. She decided to provide shelter in her rural but very spacious home. In a few days, [NAME1] granny was already meeting tenants. [NAME2], with her three-year-old daughter [NAME3] and five-year-old son [NAME4], came from the zone of active hostilities. They brought with them a suitcase with the most necessary things - documents, photos, and some clothes. The young woman was not verbose, and [NAME1] did not tire of questions. She understood what hell the young family had come from, so she only sympathized and tried to please the guests with tasty dishes, a soft bed and silence, which, in her opinion, they lacked in the Donetsk region. The settlers were fed at the expense of this grandmother's small pension; any funds from the family she refused to take from the very beginning. Utility services were also paid for by the granny. This is all that allowed me to sit in this wilderness. I can't eat these dills. Right now, I want to take a machine gun and go to you to kill these Khokhols [Ukrainians]." Hearing this, the old woman, with heavy legs, barely reached the rotten wooden bench to sit down. She did not know how to behave or what to do or say. Recent events flashed through her mind: the funeral of a young neighbour, a military man who left two small children, and then she remembered the occupation she had to endure. Відєть нє могу етіх укропов. Вот прям сєйчас взяла би автомат і пошла би к тєбє, хахлов мачіть» Почувши це, старенька, важкими ногами, ледь дійшла до трухлявої дерев’яної лавки, аби присісти. Не знала, як себе поводити, що робити чи говорити. В голові промайнули недавні події: похорони молодого сусіда, військового, в якого залишилось двоє маленьких дітей, потім згадала окупацію, яку довелося пережити. Вичекала паузу, аби трохи заспокоїтися і пішла до хати. Розмова зі [ІМʼЯ2] була короткою. [ІМʼЯ1] наказала їй збирати речі й вранці покинути її обійстя. [ІМʼЯ2] щось намагалася доводити та говорити.
